Sneakersnstuff London – Opening Party

Following the family & friends party the week prior, newcomers to London, Sneakersnstuff were to host another party, and this time it was open to all who were quick enough to get themselves on the guest list.

Since 1999, Peter and Erik have been continually pushing forward and with the huge success of both their Swedish stores in Stockholm and Malmo, it’s really no surprise why they’re extremely well known across the ‘sneaker world’ and often dubbed as the ‘king of collabs’.

Some may have been a little apprehensive with the opening of another store inside London, as there’s already plenty of competition, but if the turnout for their opening weekend is anything to go by, then they’ll fit just right in.

The SNS London store is based at 107-108 Shoreditch High Street, a great location, and the store itself is an extremely nice space.

The 6th of June is the National Day of Sweden, and the perfect day for SNS London to host their Opening Party. The event was to be held at Oval Space in East London, which turned out to be an breathtaking venue, and big shout to a number of names (@anumberofnames) for setting up the event.

The event wouldn’t of been as huge as success as it was if it wasn’t for the great people who turned up, and also the incredible line up of artists performing… oh, and not forgetting the free bar!

In order of play on the night; Siobhan Bell [Work It], DJ Khalil [Livin’ Proof], Wookie [Manchu Recordings], DJ Semtex and of course, the brilliant Pusha T for his massively anticipated set.

Here’s to many more SNS events and to great success in London!

New Balance 1500SNS x SNS – ‘RGB Pack’

I originally had the intention of using this blog to post what I was wearing on my feet that day, which is in fact what I’m technically doing, but I figured that if you are taking the time to check this page out then I may at least give you something else to read about.

So, on that note, continuing on the 1500 trend, I was wearing the New Balance 1500SNS x SNS today, which is part of the RGB Pack released back in 2009.

The Swedish crew over at Sneakersnstuff Stockholm teamed up with New Balance to produce this pack in celebration of their tenth anniversary after they first opened their doors in 1999. The pack duped the RGB Pack (red, green and blue – simply the three colours used to render colours in an electronic display), consisted of three different models; 577, 1500 and 1700 – red, green and blue, respectively. Check out the below image from EU Kicks of the pack.

This was the fourth collaboration with New Balance that Erik and Peter worked on, and if it wasn’t already evident that they were the masters of materials, then this pack confirms it. The guys at SNS each worked on a shoe individually; Peter worked the 577, Johan the 1500 and Erik the 1700.

The three shoes were Made in England at the legendary Flimby factory, and all consist of the high-grade premium materials that were consistently used around this time. They also sport the very sought after ‘original shape’ if you must, which makes them just that little bit more delightful. I don’t care for the 1700 much, mainly due to the ripstop upper and faux nubuck but the materials are all veggie apparently, so a perfect shoe if you’re into that or appreciate the diversity.

However, I own both the 577 and 1500, and they are two stunning pairs. I’m sure that after this post, you’ll agree with regards to the 1500 at least.

The 1500 is based around the green colour and features a mainly green, grey and white upper, with top quality pig-skin suede and mesh toe box. The inner lining also features the same mesh used on the toe box which is a nice change, and the shoe is finished off with a leather tongue hosting green embroidery, and everyone’s favourite little touch of 3M reflective piping around the heel.

There’s not really much else to say about the shoe, I’ve covered the collaboration history and outlined the materials, and I think the pictures speak for themselves. I’ll maybe re-visit this again whenever I get around to wearing the 577, but until then, enjoy some shots of the 1500. DSC_0360 DSC_0364 DSC_0373 DSC_0379 DSC_0380 DSC_0382 DSC_0396

WOMFT – Adidas Stockholm x SNS

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for the Adidas Stockholm, it’s undoubtedly by favourite model from the City Series, and when Sneakersnstuff Stockholm collaborated on this model, it was always going to be a great shoe.

This collaboration was released back in 2009 and features a suede upper like no other (the knap is superb), and also asymmetrical blue and yellow three stripes, and everyone’s favourite gum sole.

So, I trust you all had a great festive period and a happy new year to you all!

I was pretty quiet over the Christmas period, for one reason or another, but I wanted to use this post to sum up 2013 in a few pictures and kick-off 2014 with a pick-up.

Anyway, 2013 for me was all about New Balance, whether that’s a good thing or not, that’s up to you, but I regard NB as my ‘favourite’ brand if you must.. brainwashed by the N. Rather than just being a consumer of all NB, unfortunately my bank doesn’t stretch that far, I have a particular focus for Made in England NB pre-2010, and below is a collection shot from December 2013;

The reason why I have a particular focus on pre-2010 Made in England New Balance is mainly down to the shape issues that the recent releases all have, in my opinion of course, but I’m not going to dwell on that as I have a post planned at the end of the month, or maybe February.

Following the collection shot, I wanted to choose a top 5 from all my NB, including Asian made and US made;

From front to back –

1. New Balance 577WIC x Hanon Shop ‘Wigan’

2. New Balance 1300JP 2010

3. New Balance 577BGP x LFSTL ‘Kakkerlak’

4. New Balance 670NTU x Norse Projects

5. New Balance 1500NYG

I mainly based the top 5 on pairs that I wear and treasure the most, there’s a couple that I would of liked to include such as 1500CHF and 577SNS but I had to be tough on them unfortunately, maybe I’ll do a top 10 sometime! Number 1 was pretty biased towards my Aberdeen roots, but I guess that was expected.

Last but not least, my first pick-up of 2014 if you must.. I actually paid for them just before the year ended, but because of the Christmas period, it took a little longer for them to arrive;

Hopefully I’ll post more frequently, and I apologise for the short round up of 2013, but January is a busy month at university with exams and other things, so I’ll have some time when they’re out of the way!

Thanks for reading and all the best for 2014!
