This summer we join forces with Italian sports brand Diadora and are proud to present the V7000 “Inter City” – a first V7000 release and a continuation of our “Saturday Special” theme.
The most anticipated hanon shop release of the year was finally upon us after pictures of a sample surfaced back in March, and it was sure to be an extremely busy morning.
Arriving at 6:30am, the queue already stemmed past down the restaurant next door with around 20 people there; some even travelling from south of the border to make sure they got their hands on a pair of the Transit II. As to be expected with a hanon shop collaboration, each shoe came with a dustbag, spare lace sets, and the first 30 lucky customers were to receive a Made in Italy Diadora ‘Continua a Bruciare’ t-shirt complimentary with the shoes, so everyone was eager to make sure they were within the limit to complete the great instore release package.
Following on from the first release, you may be familiar with the term ‘Saturday Special’ and know it to be a public transport service which ran throughout the UK in the 80’s, and the ‘Transit II’ also draws it’s inspiration from a similar transport service.
As has been the case with the Diadora N.9000 releases this year, each and every pair has been hand crafted in Italy, and the Transit II features a premium pig suede upper, kangaroo leather on the tongue overlay, logo side stripe, vamp and heel tab, then nubuck toe and heel wraps, and finally, OG closed mesh.
The colour palette of the shoe is based more on the old British Rail trains, and that’s where the marine green and yellow on the upper comes from. Add to that some clean white mesh, red accents, and then you have an extremely well executed colourway.
As always, the guys at hanon never fail to impress with their details – old school multi print on the in sock and tongue backer, with dual branding embroidered on the heel and tongues.
As was expected, the turn out for the release was great, with old and new faces there, and multiple pairs being bought by each customer. It’s a testament to hanon shop themselves, that they can continually put out great collaborations.
A big shout out to the hanon shop team for a smooth release on the day!
Check out some shots below from the release, and a special thanks to Adeel for taking the reigns on this one and photographing the on-foots and some of the queue.
Saturday 31st of May, saw the anticipated release of the Diadora x Hanon Shop N.9000 ‘Saturday Special’, so I headed down to check out the instore release.
With plenty of people queuing from the early hours of the morning, and some even making the journey up from London the previous day, all were eager to get their hands on a pair or two. The first 30 lucky customers would also receive a free t-shirt along with the trainers, if you’re into rocking that matching tee and trainers thing.. always a nice touch nonetheless.
The materials and construction of this shoe really are the talking points, with some of the finest materials, such as a kangaroo leather upper, silky pig and bovine suede, and closed mesh. Not to forget that the whole shoe is hand crafted in Italy!
The colour palette of the shoe is inspired by 80′s trains and buses, the upper features dark marine and burgundy, with red and sky blue accents. On topic of the colourway, I’d liked to have seen this pair release in A/W right enough, rather than S/S, as the maroon/burgundy tips it more into that season.
As always, the guys at Hanon never fail to impress with the details and seeing the shoe in person provides a much more thorough look – old school multi print on the in sock and tongue backer, with dual branding embroidered on the heel and tongues
All pairs released both online and instore will come with three sets of laces and an additional dust bag, and then the first 30 customers instore also received a free tee.
The release itself went smoothly, with a few guys from Diadora making the journey across from Italy, and it was good to catch up with old and new in some Aberdeen sun for a change.. Until next time!
Be sure to check out some of the pics below from the release.
